   Online records raise privacy concerns

DALLAS - So you guard your Social Security number. Shred sensitive documents. Check your credit card activity. Delete suspicious e-mails.

You may feel safe, but an identity thief could still wreck your life by surfing through online records that once were available only at the county courthouse.

These photographic images of deeds, divorce settlements, tax liens and bankruptcies - particularly older records - may contain Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, and credit card and bank account information.

"It's terrible what might be in there," said Dallas County Administrator Allen Clemson.

Now, county officials around the country are evaluating yet another trade-off created by technology: Does the public convenience of online government records outweigh the individual's need for financial privacy?

Some counties are deleting sensitive data from online documents but keeping it on original courthouse records.

Now Even The NFL Shuns ‘Train Wreck’ Britney Spears

Because at that point the NFL said no to Britney Spears and then called her a "train wreck." It's unknown how Britney Spears responded to this knockback, although on current form it probably involved vomiting all down her cleavage and trying to fish the lumpy bits out with a cocktail stirrer.

When Britney Spears was with Kevin Federline, it was generally assumed that K-Fed was the one holding Britney back with his badly-advised hip-hop album and his inhumanly potent semen, but now that Britney Spears and Kevin Federline are getting divorced, it seems that Britney is perfectly capable of wrecking her own career thank you very much.

Whether it's by hanging out with Paris Hilton, being named as the worst-dressed woman on Earth for the second year running, covering her hand in shonky tattoos or forcing the world at gunpoint to stare at her naked flange, Britney Spears seems intent on making her career suicide nosedive more spectacularly than anyone else before her.

Judge's edict: Divorce files to be public

PORTSMOUTH -- The divorce records of murder suspect Sheila LaBarre will be made public after a Rockingham County Superior Court judge granted the request made by the Portsmouth Herald to view the sealed documents.

LaBarre, 48, has until Sept. 18 to object to or appeal the decision of Judge Peter G. Hurd, who stated in his ruling "LaBarre's blanket assertion of her rights of privacy fails to demonstrate that there is a sufficiently compelling reason that would justify preventing public access to her divorce records."

The Herald petitioned the court to unseal records of the divorce that ended the marriage of LaBarre and Wayne A. Ennis, a native of Jamaica. Hurd ruled in favor of the Herald the day of the hearing, at the Family Division of the court in Brentwood, on Aug.

CRUISE MESSAGE FAILS TO BEND BECKHAMS

While Tom Cruise is being hailed as the new "messiah" of Scientology, he's apparently failed to make two important converts: Victoria and David Beckham. Ever-mindful of her wealth, the former Posh Spice has made it very clear to Tom she doesn't intend on pouring millions into his controversial religion. Nor is she apparently impressed by Scientology leader David Miscavige, who believes Cruise will eventually be worshipped like Jesus for his good works. Meanwhile, Victoria is spending some of the $250 million her soccer ace husband will earn in America on a $20-million L.A. mansion and a huge new wardrobe for both of them. While Tom's disappointed by his failure with the Beckhams, he and Katie Holmes remain close friends with the British couple. Katie, now an ardent Scientologist, is furious over reports her marriage to Tom is bizarre and he's cut her off from career, friends and family.
